These devices are used to:
• Preserve humidity and minimize damage to tracheal epithelial cells.
• Reduce heat loss through the bronchopulmonary tree.
• Help prevent thickened secretions and changes in lung function during long-term anesthesia or ventilatory support.
Specifications:
• Dead space: 32 mL and indicated for use in adult patients whose Tidal Volumes are greater than 600 mL and less than 1200 mL
• Moisture Output: 24mg/L H2O @ 10 breaths/min Tidal Volume 1000 mL
• Temperature Output: 33.0°C @ 10 breaths/min Tidal Volume 1000 mL
• Resistance to flow:
– 0.4 hPa (cmH2O) at gas flow rate 0.5 L/sec (30 L/min)
– 1.2 hPa (cmH2O) at gas flow rate 1.0 L/sec (60 L/min)
– 2.4 hPa (cmH2O) at gas flow rate 1.5 L/sec (90 L/min)
