Product Overview
Compass for Thoracentesis provides a solution for measurement when a pleural effusion is suspected in a patient. Pleural effusion is due to excess fluid stuck in the pleural space, which needs to be removed and is identifiable with the help of a thoracentesis catheter. Measuring associated pressure is key during this procedure as it helps to avoid complications such as re-expansion pulmonary oedema (RPE).
The handheld device also makes it possible to access instant, precise and real-time pressure readings, both positive and negative, up to +500 cmH20 (centimetres of water).
In addition, Compass helps to prevent allergic reactions in both patients and clinicians, as it is a latex-free device.
